pdf download

The strength of the fungus “signal” is amplified or damped depending it’s proximity to optimum growth conditions at each control point in the loop.   For example, after completing the internal fungal growth stage, zero movement becomes the next optimal condition for the fungus growth.  The closer the variable at the point in the system is to zero the greater the signal (in this case line width) is amplified.  Too far from optimum results in the loss of the signal.  At certain points in the system, the signal is divided when passing through multiple simultaneous variables.  Before the moving to the next stage, the resultant amplified or damped signals are recombined.  The signal cycles through each half of the ant/fungus feedback loop and will seek equilibrium.
